o r u m YOUTH ' Columnist: Rev. László Medyesy thanksgiving AND WHAT OF THOSE? And what of those who said nothing all week but felt much And what of those we ignored because they were different or quiet And what of those who aren’t writing any letters And what of those that left as strangers And what of those who’ll never come back And what of those that none will ask “what happened to” And what of those who read this and ask What of us? * PROGRAM NEWS The Teleketic Scenes is a series of films which I would recommend for an interesting Youth Fellowship meeting. The films vary in length. They range anywhere from 6-30 minutes. The subjects cover such a wide va- liety of topics as among others: Encounter, Marriage, Revelation, and The Sacraments. Each film comes with a booklet giving a synopsis of the subject and questions to be used as a guideline for discussion afterwards. Anyone interested in getting hold of these films should write to: Visual Education Service John Hollinger, Director 409 Prospect Street New Haven, Ct. 06510 or contact a local public library or possibly a near-by University library where they have a film collection. Debbie Imri Program Editor ‘IJoutl JV«. PASSAIC NEWS Now that we’re back from our summer vacation, our first meeting will be held Sept. 26. We would have had our first meeting Sept. 19, but we will be traveling to the Bridgeport Church instead, to discuss what the youth of the Eastern Classis will be doing in the coming year. We are also planning to have a retreat during the Chrismas vacation involving mainly our youth group and the Conn, youth groups. If this plan becomes a reality, kids from other classis’ are invited. Officers for the coming year are; Pres. Bob Rinko, Vice-Pres. Art Couture, Sec. Sandy Sonye, Tres. Jo-Ann Molnár. HOMESTEAD NEWS During the summer we haven’t held our regular meetings. To finance our way to camp, we sold travel kits. In the form of recreation we went swimming, horseback riding, and attended the annual eastern Ohio-western Pa. youth conference in Warren, Ohio. We helped to renovate the church by painting the railings around the church and some of the Youth Fellowship members took part in the Worship Services while our minister was on vacation. On returning home from camp we had a short discussion on the outcome of this years camp. In the future we plan to hold fund raising activities such as bake sales, dinners, and car washes. We also plan to occasionally get together with the Pittsburgh, Youth Fellowship. TRY THIS FOR SIZE! “ONCE UPON A TIME a man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves; and the thor- nes grew and choked that man; and he went on and didn’t have any money; and he met the Queen of Sheba. And behold she gave that man a thousand talents of gold and a hundred changes of raiment. And he got into a chariot straight-way and drove furiously. And when speeding along under a big sycamore tree his hair got caught on a limb and left him hanging there. And he hung there many days and nights, and ravens brought him food to eat and water to drink. And one night while he was hanging there asleep his wife Delilah came along and cut off his hair, and the poor man dropped and fell on stony ground. And it began to rain, and it rained forty days and forty nights, and he hid himself in a cave until the rain stopped. And when he left the cave he met a man who said, ‘Come and have supper with me.’ But he said, ‘No, I can’t, for I have just married a wife and can’t come.’ So the man went out into the highways and byways and compelled them to come for supper. He went on and came to Jerusalem, and when he got there he saw Queen Jezebel sitting high up in the window, and when he saw her he said aloud, ‘Throw her down’ And they threw her down. And he cried again, ‘Throw her down some more,’ and they threw her down some more. And they threw her down seventy times seven; and of the fragments was picked up twelve baskets. Now. Whose wife do you think she’ll be in the resurrection?” The above is a masterpiece of confusion and conflaction. It contains the echoes or strains of at least seventeen stories in the Bible. THE QUESTION IS....HOW MANY CAN YOU IDENTIFY? * PRAYER Every Day and Every Hour, Father I breathe in thy lifegiving Power Power to be well Power to be pure Power to love and Power to endure. Amen.
