BERETZ 7520 Woodmar Avenue Hammond, Ind. 46323 FALL MEETINGS The U estem Classis held its Fall Conference on September 24, 1971 in our Whiting, Indiana church. The conference theme was: Faith and Works. Columbus, Ohio was the scene of our Lakeside Classis fall meeting on October 16, 1971. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó, classis president, pre­sided. Our Eastern Classis held their meet­ing in Passaic, N. J. with Classis President Rev. Zoltán Király of Man- ville, N. J. as leader. The Rev. Dr. László Berzeviczy, president of the Central Classis re­ports that two fall events will be held. The first on October 31, in Duquesne, Pa. when an ecumenical reformation worship service will be Official Communications held and on Nov. 7, also in Duquesne the annual fall conference. Pastors and churches of the Hungarian Re­formed Church in America have been invited to attend. ANNIVERSARIES Two congregations celebrated their 65th anniversaries in October. On October 10th our Columbus, Ohio congregation marked its founding with impressive ceremonies. Bishop Beretz preached the English sermon while the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó of Cleveland, Ohio delivered the Hun­garian sermon. The congregation ren­ovated its church building, installed a new organ and redecorated the parsonage. On October 24, 1971, our Bethle­hem, Pennsylvania congregation marked its 65th anniversary with an Anniversary worship service and din­ner. The Rev. Alexander Babos is the pastor. The Ladies Aid Society of our Manville, New Jersey congregation gave thanks to God for 40 years of service. The Rev. Zoltán Király, Classis president, is the pastor. DAYTON, OHIO The merger between our Dayton and Pleasant Valley congregations was voted down on September 26 by both congregations after they were unable to agree on property arrange­ments. The Rev. Ernest Zugor resigned as pastor effective October 15, 1971. On October 10th he was called as pastor to the Pleasant Valley church. Bishop Beretz met with both Con­sistories on October 9th and after conducting a meeting between the pastor and the consistory, accepted Rev. Zugor’s resignation and declared the pulpit vacant. Since the merger was not consum­mated, Pleasant Valley congregation will remain with the Southwest Ohio Association. WEDDING BELLS The Rev. and Mrs. Leslie Egry announce the engagement of their daughter Nan to Mr. Peter Todd Katzenbach, son of Dr. and Mrs. C. Buckman Katzenbach, of Hopewell, New Jersey. A January wedding is planned. PERSONAL ITEMS We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Eugene Galan- tay, Sr., mother of our late minister the Rev. Eugene Galantay. She died on October 8, 1971, in Flint, Michigan at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eugene Galantay. The Rev. Zoltán Kovács, pastor of our Homestead church, was hospital­ized for five days. He is on the mend. Congratulations to the Rev. and Mrs. John Paul Nagy on the mar­riage of their daughter Gloria Maria to Anthony Tibor Vecsesi on July 10, 1971 in Miami, Florida.
