REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA 15 four classes: Rev. Zoltán Király, Eastern, Rev. Dr. László Berzeviczy, Central, Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó, Lakeside, and Rev. Desmond Parragh, Western. DR. JOHN BUTOSI ELECTED TO THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF UCC For the first time in 50 years our Synod has representation on the highest administrative and policy-making council of the denomination. Our congratulations to Dr. Butosi on his election. We know that he will be an able representative of our Synod and of our Reformed heritage. His presence on the Executive Council will add stature to the UCC also. Dr. Butosi, Mr. Albert Kovács, as Delegates, and Bishop Arpad Beretz, as Associate Delegate, represented our Synod at the Eighth General Synod of the UCC held in Grand Rapids, Michigan June 25 to 29, 1971. Mrs. Arpad Beretz attended as Visitor. WORLD-WIDE RESPONSE Congratulatory letters have been received, literally, from all over the world in connection with Synod’s decision to call its administrative head, Bishop. Also, the response of our congregations and people has been most gratifying. Many of the letters express the sentiment that, perhaps, a new era can now begin; an opportunity to re-evaluate our purposes and goals and, perhaps, our ecumenical ties with churches at home and abroad. The expectations are great. Let us pray that with God’s help we may be found faithful and acceptable for His work and service. VISITORS FROM HUNGARY Dr. Kalman Ujszaszy, lay president of the Northeast Synod of the Reformed Church of Hungary and Head Librarian of the Library and Archives in Sárospatak, together with his wife, Ilona and daughter. Esther, have spent the summer months visiting our congregations and gathering historical materials and documents relating to our church and community life. His pioneering work in this field is invaluable. We recommend the support of this work. The Rev. Gyula Ruszkay, pastor in Diósgyőr, Hungary, is also visiting and preaching in our congregations.
