NEED DEMANDS ACTION.” "A PLAN OF UNION" was discussed at the Pastors’ Re- treata held on October 19-20, at the Krisheim Study Center in Philadelphia, Pa. After a thorough study of the document, plans were formulated in regard to denominational contribution, congregational information, and community co-operation. The retreat unanimously approved the Conference Council’s recommendation of July 24, that we intend to remain as a synod (Hungarian region) within the framework of the proposed union. Synod President was urged to attend the spring meetings of the four classes and provide the necessary information. OUR 1971 SYNOD MEETING was decided by the Conference Council in Philadelphia: it will be held on April 26, 27 and 28, 1971 in Buffalo, N. Y. LOCAL CHURCH REPORTS will be due in the synod office before JANUARY 20, 1971. Forms will soon be mailed to our pastors. Please, understand that these reports are important from the standpoint of planning and evaluation. Even if the annual meeting of the congregation is not held before that date, pastors should know the necessary data in the first half of January. Why create the impression that we do not know what is law and order!?... THE NEW BY-LAYS of the Bethlen Home are published now. According to paragraph 5/c the Board of Directors shall include “six representatives of the Calvin Synod, four representatives of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, one representative of the Hungarian Presbyterian Conference and one representative of the Hungarian Ref. congregations not affiliated with the above identified church bodies PROVIDED THAT A MINIMUM DONATION OF $1,000 WAS MADE TO THE HOME FOR EACH REPRESENTATIVE DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR PRIOR TO THE ANNUAL MEETING. All representatives must be members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and must be appointed from the contributing congregations.” AT THE CLOSE OF 1970 may we urge our congregations to support generously the work of our synod as well as that of the UCC. Do not forget Basic Support, Synod administration and appeals! Remember the Massai Mission in Kenya, Africa: the urgent need of Rev. Csákány. Send donations to: Rev.
