Can anyone be alone at the recreational games which will be offered and still say that he has enjoyed himself? Can anyone view the magnificent Century of Progress which was brought about through the efforts of numerous nations in uniting together their culture and civilization in bringing about the superb awe and beauty of modern progress ? Can anyone amble through the spacious parks of Chicago with all the beauties of nature contained therein without exchanging a word or two about it to someone? These are a few places of amusement and recreation which bind real fellowship together. These are some of the beauty spots which tend to make one realize that there is a need for companionship. The social contacts which are thus made or widened are worth the time of anyone. Today we stand in the midst of arts, vast, beautiful and useful; we are surrounded by all the facts of man’s marvelous history; we enjoy the diffuculties of our forefathers and breathe an atmosphere charged with refinement. We look back upon our progress and condemn other people hindered by climatic conditions for their backwardness and deficiencies. But the youth who hates good, clean companionship and fellowship —- and there are such — might as well be the poor savage — if that might be a comparison — lying on the banks of the Niger, whose soul sits in silence and whose body starves to death in a silent dungeon. Should a kind heaven give the power to select some charmed gift to be dropped down upon us, the youths of two nations, our parents could ask nothing better than that each young heart should storm the gates of clean fellowship and friendship, and gain the wealth that they contain within. Confucius said: “There are three friendships which are advantageous, and three which are injurious. Frienships with the upright; friendship with the sincere; and friendship with the man of observation; these are advantageous. Friendship with the man of specious airs; friendship with the insinuatingly soft; and friendship with glib-tongued: these are injurious.” Why pick the injurius types of friendship when the advantageous types can just as easily be reached. If you desire the three types of advantageous fellowship and friendship, come to the Young People’s Conference which is to be held on August 23, 24, 25, and 26 in Chicago, Illinois. If you gain nothing else but true fellowship and friendship at this conference, that alone will be worth all the time and effort which you can muster. Give this conference a trial; let it try to help you! You will not regret! A Reformed Church egyik legnagyszerűbb szervezete a Női Missziói Egyesület, amely az elmúlt három év alatt, amint azt a General Synod jegyzőkönyve igazolja, ................... centet fordított közegyházi célokra. Az egyetlen szervezet volt, amely még ezekben a nehéz időkben sem dolgozott deficittel s munkaprogramját sem csökkentette a legkisebb mértékben sem. Munkálkodása főleg a diakonisszák fönntartását öleli föl s a mi egyházaink is ezeknek a lelkes hölgyeknek köszönhetik, ahol körükben diakonissza dolgozik. Évi Cabinet Gyűlésüket most Daytonban tartották s beszámolójukban 'érintik ottani egyházunkat is a 'következőikben: “Ebéd után a díszterembe mentünk, ahol Miss Nánássy diakonissza készített elő egy előadást. Ennek első része Miss Nánássynak egy eredeti jelenete volt, amelyben a Mission Band gyermekei azt mutatták be, hogy mint készül el egy ebéd a Cabinet részére. A gyermekek nagy fő- zőkánalakat és más konyhai eszközöket tartottak kezükben, mialatt egy magyar táncot jártak s utánozták egy torta elkészítését. Ennek eredménye gyanánt egy hatalmas tortát nyújtottak át az elnöknek, Mrs. Leidhnak, egy lezárt borítékkal együtt. Amint kiderült, a torta nem is volt utánzat. Mrs. Azary készítette azt s a borítékban $15.00 volt az ötvenedik évi alapítvány növelésére.” Gyöngéd viszonzása volt ez az előadás és adomány a hölgyek sok jóságának. Az igazi viszonzás azonban az lenne, ha egyházainkban mindenütt megalakulnának a Női Missziói Egyesület osztályai. Hiszen a mi asszonyainkban is van annyi lelkesedés, mint angol nyelvű nővéreinkben! Tudomásunk szerint csak Buffalo West Side-on, Toledoban 'és Daytonban vannak Női Missziói Egyesületek. Farrell, Pa. Az egyház nyári iskolája vasárnap tartotta meg vizsgáját a d. e. Istentisztelet keretében. Esteli programjukon színdarabok, szavalatok, stb. voltak. A szülők köszönetét Fónagy János tolmácsolta a tanítóknak. Farrell-Sharoni L. Zs. Nőegyletünk májálisi haszna $44.06, amelyet az egyház szénkiadásaira ajándékoztak. Az egyháztanács havi gyűlése a vasárnapi Istentisztelet után lesz. Nőegyletünk gyűlését 7-én, hétfőn este tartja. Ujkenyéri urvacsoraosztás lesz 13-án. A szentjegyeket Szakács Péterné adományozza.
