De ne gondold azért, hogy mi lelkészek nem ismerjük a bibliát. Ez csak azt jelenti, hogy a te eszecskéd igen nehéz rejtvényt talált ki. De ki is találtam volna, ha jobban vigyáztál volna az Írásodra. HOW HONEST ARE WE AS INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS?

Scripture: Acts 4:32, 5:1—5.

“Honesty is the best policy” said Benjamin Franklin. Experience, both in the business world and in social life proves, that it is a true maxim. But Christians who exercise honesty because it is the best policy are very far away from the Christian standard. For us honesty is not the “best policy,” but the “only policy.” It may interest you to know that American business people have a very high opinion of the honesty of the Hungarians. As a group, they say, the Hungarians are A No. 1 people to do credit business with, because they hardly ever try to evade their obligation. This honesty of our people is due, in the first place, to the pride they take in the sanctity of their given word; and in the second place, to their fundamental Christian training. We hear a great deal about the repudiation of war debts by the European nations, but no such word came from Hungary as yet, although our old country has been overlaid with burdens, flowing out of the war, heavier proportionately than any other nation. This is another characteristic of our people that should be preserved. How should we do it? First: let every one of us practice honesty as the only honorable and Christian policy. Let us hold our promises sacred. Before making a promise be thoughtful, make such promises only that are possible of fulfillment. But after we have made a promise let us fulfill it, even if it costs more than we thought it would. Don’t use "alibis” for they are very poor to take the place of fulfillment. Never tell a falsehood. You are molding your character and even the little things leave their marks. Always remember that seemingly you might deceive some people you can never deceive God and your conscience. — In the second place, remember that you belong to a group that takes pride in honesty even aside of their Christian consciousness. Your elders have built up a reputation that is more precious than gain or gold. If you will be faithful in little things some day you will be trusted in great things.

Medical Collegeban orvosi diplomáját, amelyhez a legőszintébb szívvel gratulálunk úgy az uj magyar orvosnak, mint szüleinek, kiknek odaadó szeretete, áldoz atkészsége nem ismert határt, midőn áldozatot kellett hozni g y e r m e kük továbbtanulásáért.

Dr. Veres Imre Magyarországon, Hajdú böszörményben született s egyéves orvosi gyakorlatát Allen- townban, Pa. a Sacred Heart Hospitalban fogja végezni. Hisszük és reméljük, hogy a böszörményi hajdúk ősi vére nem alvadt meg az ő ereiben sem s mint az amerikai magyarságnak Isten kegyelméből tovább, magasabbra jutott fia, sohasem fog elfeledkezni származásáról, a magyarsággal állandóan megtartja összeköttetését s Isten-adta tehetségét arra használja, hogy nemcsak magának, hanem fajának is minél nagyobb megbecsültetést szerezzen.

2. You are expected at Ligonier, Pa., on July 1, between 5 and 7 o’clock P. M., Eastern Standard Time.

3. If you come from Pittsburgh, take the Pennsylvania train to Latrobe and change there to the train which leaves for Ligonier at 2:20 and 6:00 P. M. If you come from the East, get off at Latrobe also and take one of the above trains. Traveling by car from either direction: Take the Lincoln Highway (No. 30). Ligonier is on the Lincoln Highway.
