AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA 9 respect. With only a little help, but an unbounded amount of faith in Christ, they built our Churches. We can really admire the abundance of faith that they had in order to accomplish this difficult task. They were builders! Today, as you pass your church, take off your hat and give a word of thanks to God for giving us these men — our fathers. Now, Young People, the work that they accomplished here must not perish, nor must it be at a standstill. It must go on! This is our challenge! Will we accept? Will we go on where they left off? Or will we drift back into somnolence? In our Christian Endeavor Union we are offered an opportunity to understand one another’s problems. It give us a closer contact with our Young People of the different Societies. More than anything else it give us a united feeling of pursuit toward our goal — JESUS CHRIST! During the past two months I have read where here and there Young People’s Societies were being organized. Not taking much interest in this work formerly, they are now realizing the necessity of this society in the church. You, who have only started this work, will find numerous problems that will cause you to lose faith and hope, but you must carry on! Find your faith in Christ and in the end you will find the joy in succeeding and accomplishing what you set out to do. “Build today, then, strong and sure, With a firm and ample base: And ascending and secure, Shall tomorrow find its place.” There are other societies, Young People’s Societies, who have changed not only their name, but also their plan of work. They have become Christian Endeavor Societies. They have taken that step which elevates them to a higher plane of Ohristian life and a step nearer to Christ. Be true to your pledge, live up to your new name of Christian Endeavor, and then you will behold the work of Christ. We are beginning to harvest the fruits of our toil. The work of the Magyar Christian Endeavor Union has not been in vain. Barely making a headway during its few years of existence, encountering numerous difficulties, it has now put its one foot on solid rock. It is your duty, now, Christian Endeavor and Young People’s Societies, to help the Union put its other foot on solid rock. “Nothing useless is, or low; Each thing in its place is best; And what seems but idle show, Strengthens and supports the rest.” To this date, only eight Societies have shown their intentions of becoming active members of the Union. The following Societies are the only ones who have paid their yearly dues; Homestead, Pa., Lorain, O., Fairport Harbor, O., two societies, E. Chicago, Ind., Dayton, O., Elyria, O., S. Norwalk, Conn., and Toledo, O. Where are all the rest? “Behold I stand at the door, and knock; and if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him.” Rev. 3 :20. C. E. Societies and Young People’s Societies, this is a plea, not only for the Union, but for your own sake. Pay your dues, show us that you also want to take an interest in the Magyar Reformed C. E. Union. Let us unite our strength, and combine our efforts, in this work for Christ. The Magyar Reformed C. E. Union extends to all C. E. and Young People’s Societies, who as yet have not become members of this organization, a hearty welcome. Our hope is fervent, our plea is urgent — enter into our fold! Újabban a Michigan Council of Churches Rev.
