JUSTICE FOR HUNGARY: PEACE FOR THE WORLD Trianon nem csak szülőhazánkat, Magyarországot tépte darabokra, de széiszaggatta anyaegyházunkat: a Magyar Egyetemes Református Egyházat is. Valamikor a világ legnagyobb egységes református egyháza volt ez, olyan történelmi múlttal, amilyennel más alig dicsekedhetik. A hitvallóknak, a hősöknek, a mártíroknak olyan seregét egyetlen más egyház sem adta a világnak olyan áldozatos tömegben, mint a Magyar Református Egyház. Vajha ez a bizonyságtétel most se lenne hiábavaló. Igazságot a Magyar Református Egyháznak, mert másként nem lehet békéje a világ lelkiismeretének! AN APPEAL FROM THE AMERICAN HUNGARIANS OF THE REFORMED FAITH, TO THE WORLD ALLIANCE OF REFORMED CHURCHES HOLDING THE PRESBYTERIAN SYSTEM, Boston, Mass. Reverend Fathers and Brethren:— It is with deep respect and real brotherly feelings that the American Hungarians of the Reformed Faith send their greetings to the World Alliance at whose meeting the official representatives of their Mother Church, the Reformed Church of Hungary, and of the Hungarian Reformed Churches in the occupied territories of Hungary also participate, as a testimony to the fact that they still are conscious and in full measure appreciative of the communion sanctified of God, in which our Hungarian Reformed Zion always lived with the Protestantism of the world. Whatever she was able to do for this communion in the past, our Hungarian Zion always did heartily. At this time when she is dismembered, weakened, with her life paralyzed and hope for her future blighted, she now becomes dependent upon the aid and support of her brethren in other lands. We, American Hungarians of the Reformed Faith, enjoy full religious liberty in our new country; we are deeply grieved, therefore, at the fate of our brethren, who under the oppression of foreign powers are no longer able to live that free life, which is not only urged by their consience but a’so demanded by the nature of our religion. Out of our full freedom we beseech you in behalf of those, the oppressed, who are not free even to speak in their own defense. In behalf of those who can worship God in their own language only under continuous surveillance of suspicion. In behalf of those, whose schools, primary, high and graduate, are rendered untenable and annihilated one öfter the other by oppressive power. In behalf of those who are limited even in their communications and relations with their brethren in other lands. In behalf of those who are deprived of their church and school properties from day to day. In behalf of those whose bleeding wounds justly cry to heaven and to you, 0 Fathers, who must become instruments in the hands of the Lord for their salvation. Prayerfully we raise our voice in their behalf and imploring we beg the World Alliance to do all within her powerful influence in the interest of our oppressed Hungarian Reformed brethren and the exercise of their religious freedom. The continual grievances must be satisfied, otherwise there cannot be peace on earth among men of good will. Pointing to the sufferings of Christ, wh'ch is even now hanging on the cross, the four century old Hungarian Reformed Zion, and do all for her sake, which is within the power of the World Alliance to do. In the month of June of the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and twenty- nine, with loyal devotion, AMERICAN HUNGARIANS OF THE REFORMED FAITH.
