Amerikai Magyar Reformátusok Lapja, 1919 (20. évfolyam, 1-52. szám)
1919-11-01 / 44. szám
AP/IERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Lapja is being published, shall transfer the publication of this paper to the care of the Reformed Federation. After giving careful consideration to this request, I am constrained to say that we cannot see our way clear to give our assent. The Publication Board of the Reformed Church in the U. S., as well as the Board of Publication and Sabbath-school Work, feels that nothing would be gained in accomplishing the purpose of the paper by making the proposed change.. Under our present policy The Reformátusok Lapja has achieved greater success than at any previous time in its history- The circulation is growing month by month, and it appears to be meeting the needs of our Hungarian constituency in a very satisfactory manner. This in itself would seem to be a very excellent reason why we should continue the present arrangement without any change, especially in view of the fact that we have gone through such distressing experiences in connection with the publication of this paper in previous years. Now that the paper seems to be succeeding, it would seem to us to be very unfortunate to make any changes either in its administrative or editorial policy. .. The two Boards under whose supevi- sion The Reformátusok Lapja is being published are aiming to present to the Hungarian churches connected with the Presbyterian and Reformed bodies, a very definite and direct message along the lines of evangelism and Americanization. We believe that a publication with such a message should be under the direct supervision of the denominational bodies, and that its editorial policy should be guided by them.---I wish to say that in connection with the publication of this paper we have an Advisory Committee composed of ministers of the Presbyterian and Reformed Churches, whose council and cooperation have been very helpful in bringing the paper to its present successful condition. Since you have so specifically stated that it is not the desire of the Hungarian Reformed Federation to make any change in the policy of the paper, we fail to see STERLING STUDIO. 1410 Seventh Avenue BEAVERFALLS, PA. I am sure the Hungarian brethern will appreciate the attitude of the Boards with reference to this request, and that they will understand the sincerity of our desire and purpose to conduct this work in a way that will contribute in the largest manner toward the development of the American Hungarian churches connected with both denominations. We are giving more attention than ever before to the whole matter of providing suitable literature for our Hungarian churches, and we are energetically at work upon a publication program, through which the needs of our Hungarian churches will be served in a way that should elicit the hearty support and cooperation of everv Hungarian minister and church in the United States.
