AMERICAN ■ Hungarian Journal “Hungary Has Historical Tradition Of Protecting European People” For centuries, Hungary has a historical tradition of “doing everything” for the safety of European people, the Prime Minister’s national security chief has said. Speaking on state-run Kossuth Radio's Sunday programme, György Bakondi said that at the beginning of the migration crisis, Hungary was heavily criticised for the measures it introduced but noted that the situation has, by now, changed substantially, with all European states starting to defend themselves after perceiving a shift in the attitude of their populations. Mr. Bakondi argued that not only Visegrád Group countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia -, but several other countries also believe that reinforcing internal security is important because “just enough” unvetted individuals have already entered the area of the European Union. Hungary has not given into any form of blackmail and will continue not to do so, be it a demonstration, violent entry into the country’s territory or any other kind of threat. The restrictive measures imposed by Hungary are successful because while thousands of people crossed the country’s southern border daily in the previous year, only an average of one hunfred individuals attempt to do so today, he claimed. Commenting on the government-initiated referendum on the rejection of the EU’s planned compulsory refugee quota system, set to take place on 2 October, he said that the importance of the referendum should not be measured on the number of migrants currently in Hungary but the necessity of “observing the European Union’s legal standards”, hungarytoday.hu Germans “Fleeing” To Hungary To Escape Migration Chaos Certain Germans are deciding to leave their home country for good and settle in “cheap, Muslim-free” Hungary to escape the migrant situation brought on by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s policies, news portal ZDF Heute reports. The report features a Bavarian couple in their early 20s as they meet Ottmar Heide, a German estate agent living near Lake Balaton, according to whom 80 per cent of those interested in buying a property in the region are fleeing Merkel’s policies. “People say they’ve had enough of things getting worse and worse in Germany. And they hail Orbán’s policies”, Mr. Heide says, adding that the Hungarian Prime Minister has protected his country with a border fence against “Muslims, intruders and economic migrants”. The seller of the property on the southern shore of Lake Balaton the couple viewed, which is on the market for 14 000 euros, say on the programme: “We are Christians, “we don’t want Muslim neighbours. They have a different culture and are aggressive. And this we can’t accept”. The report also suggests that PM Orbán sees Hungary as a counter-example to Hungarian “immigrant societies” and portrays Hungary as a “Muslim-free”, harmonious country which has, so far, been free from terrorism. < t, , * The site recalls that over the past decades, Lake Balaton was a popular tourist destination among Germans, not least because the average German pension of 770 euros - compared to the average Hungarian monthly salary of 500 euros - goes a long way in the country. According to portal, some 30 000 Germans are residing by Lake Balaton, a number that has increased since last year for political reasons. This is not the first time German media has reported on the phenonenon, though experts say it is still far from a “mass influx” of Westerners ot Hungary. On the 26 May, the Munich-based German public service broadcaster Bayerische Rundfunk (BR) aired a report, also featuring Mr. Heide, claiming that more and more Germans moving to Lake Balaton area in Hungary due to their dissatisfaction with the German government’s asylum policy and a fear of migrants, hungarytoday.hu Does Narnia Exist? The castle got in the public knowledge when it opened the doors for the wondering visitors in 1934. At this times the owner constructor guided the guests around the fairy castle. Augusztus 26, 2016 hungarytoday.hu Hungary To Extend State Of Emergency Due The Hungarian government is to extend the situation of emergency declared due to illegal migration after it is set to expire on 9 September, the Prime Minister’s national security chief has revealed. Speaking on public television channel Ml on Wednesday evening, György Bakondi said that it is “thouroughly necessary” to extend the state of emergency because migratory pressure has reintensified in Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia, with the number of migrants arriving to the Greek islands doubling each week and Balkan countries actively protecting their borders. He said that approximately 100 individuals attempt to illegally cross Hungary’s state borders each day but “so far, nobody has managed to do so”, adding that estimates put the number of migrants on wait and near the country’s borders and “trying to exploit the weaknesses of the system” in order to travel on to Western Europe at three thousand people.
