To the left is Billy Graham, Dr. Alexander S. Haraszti is interpreting. At this occasion Billy Graham received an Honorary Degree in Theology from the Reformed Theological Academy, Debrecen. Mr. Miklós is the president of the State Office for Church Affairs in Hungary. He visited the United States in May, 1980. At that time he met Billy Graham in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also visited the Baptist Home Mission Board in Atlanta, GA, and was the guest of Dr. Oscar Romo. Mr. Miklós was much instrumental in making possible Billy Graham’s three official visits to Hungary: Sept. 3-10, 1977; Jan. 7-9, 1981; Sept. 17-21, 1985. He was also helpful in arranging Billy Graham’s preaching visits to other socialist countries of Eastern and Central Europe. Mr. Barna Sarkadi Nagy meets Billy Graham in Hamilton, Ont., during a Billy Graham Crusade in the Coliseum, a large sport stadium (Sept. 25-28, 1988). Mr. Sarkadi is deputy general president of the State Office for Church Affairs in Hungary. They have discussed state and church relations in the United States. He also expressed a welcome to Billy Graham to preach in a large stadium in Budapest this coming July. Billy Graham meets hungarian Ambassador Dr. Rezső Bányász and Mrs. Irén Bányász in the Coliseum in Hamilton, Ont., Canada. Amb. Bányász for years had been the official spokesman of the Hungarian government. Later on he had served as Hungarian ambassador in London, England. Presently he is ambassador in Ottawa, Canada. This is the first time that high ranking government officials from a socialist country have officially attended a Billy Graham crusade. Bányász, Mrs. Bányász, Mrs. Gabriella Oláh, Rev. Oláh, Miss Martha Oláh. There were about 22,000 people present on Wednesday evening, October 26, 1988, filling the Coliseum to capacity. The hungarian government officials expressed their appreciation for the spiritual atmosphere of the crusade and for the orderliness of the audience.
