Utazó Evangélisták Nemzetközi Konferenciájáról (ICIE), melyet a világtörténelem ezideig legnagyobb szabású egyházi kon­ferenciájaként tarthatunk nyilván, ahol evangélisták jöttek össze. A 174 nemzetet képviselő 8500 evangélista között ott voltak a Közép- és Kelet-Európából, valamint Kubából érkezett delegátusok és énekesek is (a 9 országból összesen 154 fő). Velük Billy Graham, a konferencia legfőbb támogatója és tiszteletbeli elnöke külön is találkozott július 15-én. Alábbi fényképes beszámolónk ennek pillanatait eleveníti fel. The delegation represented the Roman Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church, the Reformed Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the United Evangeli­cal Church, the Adventist Church. Billy Graham visited Poland October 6—16, 1978. At that time 65,000 people listened to him. He has received an invitation from the Polish Ecumenical Council to visit Poland again and preach in large Stadions and also on the national television. It was in Poland that he first received an honorary degree in theology in a socialist country, Jan. 1981. * * * AMSTERDAM ’86 — Billy Graham találkozása a szovjet delegációval. — Billy Graham meeting with soviet delegation (2 are not in picture). On the right of Billy Graham stand AUCECB. President Vasily E. Log­vinenko and Sergey M. Nikolayev, Leningrad baptist pas­tor. Rev. Logvinenko greeted the plenary session oj the conference theevening of July 14, Monday on behalf of the half Million member Allunion Council of Evangelical Chris­tians— Baptists (representing baptists, pentecostals, men­­nonites and evangelical Christians). Rev. Nikolay ev delivered a testimony to the Eastern European Forum Sunday, July 13 entitled: How to be a witness in a socialist society. He gave an address at a workshop attended by participants from many nations: Opportunities of witnessing in the Soviet union. “The problem is not the lack of opportunities”, he said, “but rather if we are ready to witness with words and deeds. ” This workshop was held Tuesday, July 15. at noon. Billy Graham met Eastern Europeans that evening at 6 p.m. Billy Graham first visited Moscow on May 7—13. 1982. At that time he preached to 9000 people. The second time he visited 4 cities in the Sovietunion (Moscow, Leningrad, Tallin, Novosibirsk) September 9—21, 1984. At this time some 27,000 people heard his preaching. He has been invited to visit to Sovietunion again in June, 1988. — to participate in the 1000 year anniversary celebrations of the Russian Orthodox Church. * * * AMSTERDAM ’86 — Billy Graham a Német Demokra­tikus Köztársaságból érkezett képviselőkkel — Billy Graham with delegates from the German Democratic Re­public (10 people). He was accompained by the guitar singing of Jorg Swoboda (first man on the left), a teacher at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Buckow, near East Berlin. Fritz Hoffmann a man much involved in evangelization of the historical churches in the GDR, stands to the left of Billy Graham.
