This past holiday season, that tradition lived on as 35 of our branches joined the Home Office in providing holiday baskets of food to needy families in their communities. Because of the wonderful cooperation of our members and their branches, our Association was able to more than double the number of baskets distributed to needy families in 1986. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, a total of 134 baskets filled with turkeys, hams and other food items were sponsored jointly by our branches and the Home Office. Many of the baskets were given to members and their families who were in need. Others went to local senior citizens centers or were distributed by churches. Letters______ While many of our members were busy writing their own Christmas cards and letters, one reader did find time to drop us a line, asking us to pick our literary brains. Dear Editor: A column by Elizabeth Szabó prompted me to write and ask for your help in finding an old poem my late mother use to tell us. Please help. It is so beautiful and I have to find it somehow, someplace. Helen Kovács Ma8ury, Ohio Dear Ms. Kovács: Your memories of this poem must be quite strong, since the version you provided us needed few corrections. Here, for the enjoyment of all our Hungarian readers, is your poem: Három árva sír magába El hagyot sötét szobdda Nincsen anyok, kenyér sinsen Nincsen rajtok ki segítsen A kakas szol. Üt az óra El kel válnom viradora.
