May Synod Meets at Somerset The official Call for the 63rd Annual Meeting of Calvin Synod has been issued by the Conference Council. Returning to a midpoint in western Pennsylvania, Bishop Louis Medgyesi wül convene the sessions beginning with a Communion Service at ten o’clock Tuesday morning, May 22. The meeting wül conclude on Friday, May 25, at noon. The site chosen calls for a return to the Ramada Inn, located immediately to the right as one leaves the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Exit 10 (Somerset). To be sure to receive the special Synod rate, for one or two persons per room, reservations must be made by May 1 at 814-443-4646. The local churches are responsible for the costs of the room and meals of the lay delegate and the minister. Travel expenses on a per car mileage basis are reimbursed by the Synod for those attending all the sessions (or excused absences). All pastors must attend the meeting, unless excused in advance by the Conference Council. All Ordained Ministers are expected as well, with some lodging expense reimbursement for retirees by the Kazinczy Fund, provided by a generous benefactor. It is important for every church to be represented by a Delegate, and Alternate Delegates are welcome, but without vote or additional reimbursements. TWELVE KEYS TO AN EFFECTIVE CHURCH- Kennon L.
